Abstract

Abstract. The estimation of maneuvering performance of an autonomous under water vehicle (AUV) is needed to model hydrostatic, added mass, hydrodynamic and control surface forces and moments. Computation fluid dynamics (CFD) is becoming an essential tool for predicting the hydrodynamic forces of submerged bodies. In this paper ANSYS Fluent soft ware is conducted for the AUV in order to identify the hydrodynamic forces. Various angels of attack are inserted on the AUV in order to identify drag, lift and moment coefficients. Moreover, control surface forces and moments have been estimated.
