Peer Review Process

Cumhuriyet Medical Journal (CMJ) adheres to the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals: Writing and Editing for Biomedical Publication (1). All manuscripts submitted to the CMJ undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process to be considered for publication. Each submission is pre-screened for adherence to the submission guidelines. Manuscripts that have passed the pre-screening process will be sent to a section editor for editorial review. The assigned section editor will request at least two reviewers. Selection of reviewers is based on their field of expertise and review interests. The identities of the authors remain anonymous to the reviewers. Reviewers will provide thorough feedback on the paper and make recommendations to the editors regarding the scientific merit of the manuscript, including methodology and statistical analysis. Manuscripts requiring further or more detailed analysis on statistics will be sent to statistical experts. The section editor provides a summative review incorporating reviewer comments. The Editor-in-Chief then reviews the manuscript and registers a decision, which is final. Comments, critiques, and suggestions are conveyed to the authors through the website, but the reviewers’ identities remain confidential. Manuscripts sent back to authors for revision are expected to be revised and resubmitted within 2-4 weeks.
